Syracuse University London Program

It’s only natural that I start by introducing the program that I was first involved in through Syracuse University. Their London Program is one of the best (if not THE best) programs to study abroad in London.

You don’t even have to be a Syracuse University student. In fact, the majority of the students while I were there were from Colorado, Lyola and other schools. Let’s just say they take care of everything to ensure you have the time of your life.

They offer Fall, Spring and Summer terms with the option to stay for a full academic year. They have course offerings in communications, english/literature, drama, poli sci, psychology and others. My courseload was very light and Fridays are reserved for field trips—they have one almost every week to various places including Greenwich, Salisbury, Bath, Stonehenge and also weekend trips to Italy, Ireland and other European hot spots. They take care of everything.

Can’t find a course? They have special arrangements with City University and University College.

SULP has pre-arranged housing available that is included with the program fee. You can opt out of pre-arranged housing and they will give you a nice fat CASH refund when you get there to find your own place (usually with 4 or more people to a flat).

I had an internship while I was there too…..yes they’ll set one up for you if desired.

They interviewed students and faculty in a nice little video documentary about the program that I highly suggest taking a look at. Oh yeah….I’m in it…see if you can spot me. :-P

[…] If you are not applying for a student visa because you will be in the UK for less than six months (most semester abroad programs), you MUST have proof that you will be attending an educational institution to show your immigrations officer. When I did a semester abroad with Syracuse University, they provided letters for those students who wanted to work, stating that they were students and fully enrolled in SU’s London Program. […]

[…] I remember back in 2003 when I made the decision to go abroad through Syracuse University’s study abroad program in London. So many of my friends had gone abroad at one time or another and I attribute much of my excitement at the time to my good friend Drew who told me about his adventures overseas. Coming from a small “suburb of a suburb”, going abroad was a big deal. I was pumped. What I learned abroad cannot be learned in any educational setting here in the States. That’s a given. So, here are 5 things I learned while studying abroad in the UK. […]
