“Britain, Britain, Britain…”

Via Sean Price, MUB’s very own Brit. We keep him locked up to write reviews for us from time to time. Check out his London and photography blog, What Sean Saw.
Little Britain is a case in point of true British humour but there are some things you need to know about us before a fat bloke and a posh bloke show you scenes from across our great nation.
The ‘voice’ of Little Britain is Tom Baker, the best loved incarnation of Dr Who. If you don’t know what Dr Who is – it’s like Star Trek but British. So yes, lot’s of sarcasm, quick wit and BAD sets.
Anyway, back to Little Britain. It doesn’t make sense unless you’re British, and when you are British you will understand that it not making sense is part of it.
It’s very much from the same school as Monty Python – some of it is brilliant observational comedy of the more eccentric side of British life and some of it is just plain eccentric.
Although it’s a parody of typical British characters it is more accurately a perfect example of what the British find funny. There’s no way to get the joke I’m afraid – you either find it funny or, you won’t know how to tell the jokes from the padding.
Don’t try and find the humour or worry that you’re not getting it – some of it is intelligent humour and some of it is just funny purile stuff; just lay back and think of England.
